J.D. Vance’s “cat lady” comments are continuing to dog him, with political figures, celebrities and ordinary Americans slamming his remarks. The latest high-profile person to call him out? Actress Glenn Close, who plays Vance’s Mamaw in the film adaptation of his 2016 memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy."

The Republican vice presidential nominee came under fire for his “childless cat lady” remarks last month, when a 2021 interview in which he labeled women without biological children, including presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, as "childless cat ladies" with "no direct stake" in America resurfaced.

Vance has also called for tax penalties for childless people, and even suggested giving extra votes to people with children, telling ABC, “It's not a policy proposal. It's a thought experiment, right?"

He later claimed that his comment about the Democratic Party being dominated by "childless cat ladies" was distorted, and alleged that Democrats have made their own remarks that are anti-child and anti-family.

In her rebuke of Vance, the 77-year-old Hollywood star, who is set to appear in the third “Knives Out” movie alongside Daniel Craig, posted a photo of herself with her Abyssinian cat.

“Eve would have left a bleeding mouse head in the bed of anyone who criticized any kind of lady with a CAT!” Close wrote in her post .
