    'Now, we must fight for her,' Nevada Sen. Cortez Masto stumps for Harris at DNC: Watch

    Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto took the stage on the third night of the Democratic National Convention to share her experience working with Vice President Kamala Harris when they were both attorneys general in Sun Belt states.

    Cortez Masto told the crowd that she and Harris took on big banks and delivered for families during the foreclosure crisis; held criminals accountable by putting transnational criminals and drug smugglers behind bars; and met with survivors of human trafficking to better understand who they were fighting for, while standing up for justice.

    "Working together, I quickly learned what kind of person she is: She is a strong leader," Cortez Masto said.

    The Democratic National Committee convention is in Chicago through Thursday and Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday is scheduled to formally accept the party's nomination for the 2024 Election.

    What to know about Catherine Cortez Masto

    • Who is she: Catherine Cortez Masto was first elected to the Senate in 2016, and became the first female senator from Nevada, as well as the first Latina ever elected to the Senate from any state. She joined the Senate at the same time as Kamala Harris, who was the first South Asian and second Black woman elected to the chamber.
    • What role she plays: The first Latina elected to the Senate, and a former prosecutor and attorney general.
    • Key quote: "And trust me — [Harris] will fight for our families and our freedoms. Now, we must fight for her," Cortez Masto said.

    When and where is the DNC

    The Democratic National Convention will take place from August 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois.

    The United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, will be the main venue for the DNC.

    Chicago has hosted the Democratic Convention 11 times, most recently in 1996 when the United Center saw President Bill Clinton was nominated for a second time.

    How to watch and stream the 2024 DNC

    The convention will air live on its website , from the United Center in Chicago between 6:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m Central) on Monday, and 7 p.m to 11 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) the other days.

    USA TODAY will provide livestream coverage on YouTube each night of the DNC, Monday through Thursday.

    The DNC announced nightly themes for the convention. The title of the convention is "For the People, For Our Future."

    Here are the themes for each night:

    • Monday: "For the People"

    • Wednesday: "A Fight for our Freedoms"
    • Thursday: "For our Future"
