    Rep. Colin Allred talks about a 'we' mindset in DNC speech: Watch

    Texas Rep. Colin Allred was among the second group of guests to speak on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

    After being drafted into the National Football League (NFL) and playing for the Tennessee Titans, Allred chose to attend law school, a biography about the representative details.

    In his speech at the Democratic National Convention, Rep. Allred highlighted, the challenges he faced growing up in a single parent household.

    The Democratic National Committee convention is in Chicago from Monday, Aug. 19 to Thursday, Aug. 22. Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday is scheduled to formally accept the party's nomination for the 2024 Election.

    Who is Rep. Colin Allred?

    • Who is he : Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) represents Texas' 32nd Congressional District and candidate for U.S. Senate.
    • What role he plays: On his website Rep. Allred says that he is "working to lower health care costs, protecting Medicare and Social Security, and creating an economy that works for everyone." In addition, Allred plans to help with efforts to expand access to vocational and trade schools and lowering the cost of college, his website says.
    • Key quote: "In the NFL we had a term for guys like Donald Trump and my opponent Ted Cruz; me guys" he said. "You know the type, talk a big game only care about themselves."

    When and where is the DNC

    The Democratic National Convention will take place from August 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois.

    The United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, will be the main venue for the DNC.

    Chicago has hosted the Democratic Convention 11 times, most recently in 1996 when the United Center saw President Bill Clinton was nominated for a second time.

    How to watch and stream the 2024 DNC

    The convention will air live on its website , from the United Center in Chicago between 6:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m Central) on Monday, and 7 p.m to 11 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) the other days.

    USA TODAY will provide livestream coverage on YouTube each night of the DNC, Monday through Thursday.

    What are the themes for each night of the DNC?

    The DNC announced nightly themes for the convention. The title of the convention is "For the People, For Our Future."

    Here are the themes for each night:

    • Monday: "For the People"
    • Tuesday: "A Bold Vision for America's Future"
    • Wednesday: "A Fight for our Freedoms"
    • Thursday: "For our Future"

    A call to close and protect the border from terrorist, drugs, child abduction and sex slaves are considered me guys? A call to protect civil liberty, freedom and the constitution is called me guys? A call to consider making America first, respected and maintain a republic is called me guys? I suppose I am a me guys as well!!!!!
