    The claim: There were no American flags at the Democratic National Convention

    An Aug. 21 Threads post ( direct link , archive link ) claims there was a noticeable lack of patriotic displays at the Democratic National Convention.

    “Has anyone else noticed that the only American Flags at the DNC are the ones being burned outside in front of building?” the post reads.

    The post was liked more than 600 times in four days. A similar claim was also made on Threads .

    Numerous images and videos from the convention show flags on stage with speakers each night of the convention.

    Flags on stage every night of convention

    Images from the final night of the DNC show Vice President Kamala Harris accepted her party’s nomination for president on a stage that had numerous American f l ags on it.

    The flags weren’t new, with numerous photos and videos showing they were present from the first day of the convention.

    USA TODAY shared a collection of images from the opening day on Aug. 19 that show the flags on stage. They include photos of President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden and Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock taken that evening.

    The flags were also visible in an Associated Press photo taken on Aug. 19 and in a video of the proceedings posted by C-SPAN to YouTube.

    Images from the second and third days of the convention show that American flags were also present in the crowd and on stage on those days.

    Multiple people were arrested in Chicago after clashing with police during a pro-Palestinian protest on the second night of the convention. Demonstrators burned an American flag about two miles away from the convention at the United Center, the Associated Press reported.

    USA TODAY could not reach the social media user who shared the claim for comment.
