A brand new era of college football begins in earnest with a weekend-long slate of games in Week 1 of the season. There is at least one game per day from Thursday to Monday this weekend ahead of the start of the NFL's regular season next week.
One of the first games on Friday's six-game schedule is the third-ever matchup between Temple and Oklahoma and the first since 1942. The historical series between the Owls and Sooners is tied at one game apiece, and Temple has the more recent victory: a 14-7 win at home in Philadelphia.
