Two contenders from last year's College Football Playoff take center stage on Saturday afternoon as they square off in one of the first games of the day.
The Texas Longhorns travel to Ann Arbor to take on the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines in the Big House. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after wins in Week 1. Texas is No. 3 behind Georgia and Ohio State, and Michigan is No. 9, right behind Penn State.
Both teams were CFP contenders last year, and each one is among the most storied programs in all of college football. But after missing out on a matchup in the postseason last year, the Longhorns and Wolverines have still only met once before – a 38-37 Texas win in the 2005 Rose Bowl.

College football 2024: Texas vs. Michigan predictions
Colin Lynch writes: "The Longhorns are a legitimate national title contender led by a veteran quarterback with skill all over the field. Michigan will struggle to move the football consistently, and if the Wolverines fall behind early, abandoning the running game will make for a very long afternoon."
Pete Fiutak writes: "The quarterback differential will come through here. Michigan didn't get anything out of Alex Orji against Fresno State - he had a few okay runs - and Davis Warren didn't exactly stretch the field. Quinn Ewers will be patient."
Covers.com : Texas-Michigan may be low-scoring affair
Rob Paul writes: "Michigan's offense only put up 23 points against Fresno State last week ... Meanwhile, Texas isn't going to be able to light up the scoreboard enough to hit the Over with how loaded Michigan’s defense is this season."
