The Silicon Valley giant unveiled the iPhone 16 range with on-device artificial intelligence capabilities across the models. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the new line "raises the bar for what an iPhone can do."
Entry-level AirPods were brought under the AirPods 4 banner with potential hearing aid and hearing test capabilities.
The Apple Watch Series 10 was also announced Monday, with a potential sleep apnea detection feature.
The premium end of the iPhone 16 line will have a new fusion camera, interface and ultra-wide camera.
The Pro model will see 5x telephoto, with 120mm focal length that was only on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The camera control on the Pro line will allow the user to switch between lenses and apply photo editing in photo previews.
Apple said the Pro and Pro Max models will be able to record video at 4K resolution at 120 frames per second. Professional-style audio editing will be included in the phone.
The company revealed its latest smartphone offerings, the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus.
The phones have a new A18 chip with 8GB of RAM to enable support of Apple Intelligence, the company's artificial intelligence software. The company said the chip can challenge some high-end desktop computers.
The new models also see the addition of an action button that was previously found on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
The new line sees the addition of a "capture button" that will open and operate the phone's camera. The button will be able to open the Camera app, zoom in and out, and bring the camera into focus before taking a picture.
The camera control button will enable "visual intelligence," an Apple Intelligence feature that can search from photos or send them to third party apps. The feature will be available "later this year."
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have a 48-megapixel main camera with a 2x telephoto option and a 12MP autofocus ultrawide camera.
The cameras on the iPhone 16 were rearranged from the diagonal orientation of the iPhone 15 to the vertical layout seen in the last generation's Pro models.
The company said the cameras will balance light quality and image detail, improve macro-photography and support spatial video and photos.
Apple revealed the Airpods Pro will receive major updates to help wearers with hearing.
The company said it has developed a hearing test that will be included in iOS 18 as a result of a hearing study it conducted.
Apple said the study showed 75% of people diagnosed with hearing loss have not received the assistance they need. After taking the test the Airpods Pro will be function as a hearing aid, according to the company.
Both the hearing test and the hearing aid capabilities are pending FDA approval, according to the company.
In a surprise, Apple Watch is the lead product of the event.
The Apple Watch Series 10 sees a larger case size and larger screen in the Apple’s latest horological release.
The watch will clock in at 9.7 mm thick.
Apple CEO Tim Cook praised previous iteration's impact on the health of its users in the product's introduction and the watch's health feature was a major part of the sales pitch. The watch will be able to monitor for sleep apnea, though the function is pending FDA approval.
The watches will be available for preorder Monday. They hit stores Sept. 20, starting at $399, with GPS + cellular for $499.
The iPhone 16 is expected to have larger screens on its Pro models and new camera features, such as a dedicated button for snapping photos, according to Bloomberg.
Apple is also set to roll out several artificial intelligence tools called Apple Intelligence, which the company highlighted during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
What other Apple devices will receive updates?
Apple Watch Series 10 models will possibly be thinner and have larger screens, Bloomberg reported.
Apple's AirPods will also be revamped with new low-end and midtier versions, according to the outlet. Noise cancellation will be offered on the mid-level AirPods, while the entry-level model will be updated for the first time since 2019.
