The 2024 college football season couldn't have started worse for Florida State , and now the only Group of Five conference team ranked in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll are coming to Doak Campbell Stadium.
The Seminoles are a surprising 0-2 as they prepare to face coach Mike Norvell's former team, Memphis . FSU had an open week to recover after two stunning losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College dropped it from a top-10 preseason team to unranked and outside the College Football Playoff picture , on the heels of last year's CFP snub.
Memphis (2-0) cruised in its first two games this season and fifth-year coach Ryan Silverfield, an assistant under Norvell with the Tigers, has the program positioned as the favorite in the American Athletic Conference and a top contender for the Group of Five spot in the 12-team playoff.
