Good morning! I’m Rebecca Morin, senior national news reporter at USA TODAY. The first presidential debate featured a lot of scoffs, shaking of heads and mumbles of "that’s not true ." And the night ended with one major endorsement.

Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris for president

It’s a love story with Vice President Kamala Harris . Pop star Taylor Swift endorsed the Democratic ticket following Tuesday’s debate, saying she will vote for Harris and Gov. Tim Walz. Swift, who endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020, knows all too well what her endorsement means. Read more.

Who won the debate?

But the real question: Who was Tuesday night’s winner? Harris dominated the debate – goading Trump into the offense and throwing him off course from policy talks. Unlike the June debate, Trump did not knock out his Democratic opponent. Read more.
