One of the most significant events in the world of boxing is about to unfold as the renowned Mexican boxing star, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez , prepares to enter the ring for a high-stakes battle against undefeated Edgar Berlanga . The Mexican Independence Day weekend showdown is set to take place on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo Alvarez, with a record of 61-2-2 and 39 KOs, is a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world, with his most recent unanimous decision victory was over fellow Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia in May. However, the upcoming bout will not include the IBF title, as Canelo was stripped of his IBF super middleweight title in July. This decision was made due to his choice to fight Berlanga instead of the IBF's No. 1 contender, William Scull. The vacant title fight will be between Scull and Bladimir Shishkin in October.
Berlanga, with a record of 22-0 and 17 KO's, is stepping into the ring for his first title bout against the seasoned and formidable Alvarez. The 27-year-old boxer from Brooklyn, known for his explosive start in the professional circuit with 16 first-round KO's, faces a significant challenge in this match. Canelo will be vying to defend the WBC, WBO, and WBA super middleweight titles against the undefeated Berlanga, in a match that promises to be a spectacle.
