2024 presidential election odds: Harris leads over Trump after assassination attempt foiled

Vice President Kamala Harris has held her lead over former President Donald Trump among bettors as the reaction to their debate settled and in the aftermath of a foiled assassination plot against Trump .

The weekend also saw an admission by Trump's running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, that he propagated fake stories about Haitian migrants that led to multiple threats in the town of Springfield, Ohio , including threats against two elementary schools Monday.

Harris' lead held steady on Monday at U.K. bookmaker Bet 365 and offshore bookmaker Bovada, compared to the immediate aftermath of the debate , and grew slightly at offshore bookmakers BetOnline and Oddschecker.

The action, which U.S. bookmakers cannot legally take, switched in favor of Harris approximately halfway through the debate .

Trump had a lead over then-presumptive Democratic nominee President Joe Biden after the assassination attempt in July and Biden's poor debate performance led to him dropping out of the race.
