Pennsylvania mom says she will frame $100 bill given to her by Trump at grocery store

A Pennsylvania mother of three will not spend the $100 that former President Donald Trump gave her for groceries, instead, the bill will be a keepsake in her home.

Jenny Kantz told “ Fox & Friends ” that meeting Trump on Monday at the Sprankle's Neighborhood Market in Kittanning, northeast of Pittsburgh, was a "great experience."

Before Trump stepped into the store owned by Kantz's cousins, the Republican presidential nominee's team requested someone to be present at the checkout counter upon his arrival, she told hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, Brian Kilmeade and Lawrence Jones.

USA TODAY attempted to contact Kantz on Wednesday but did not receive a response.

Trump giving Jenny Kantz the $100 bill was a 'complete surprise'

Although Kantz and others in the grocery store anticipated Trump's visit, she said the $100 gift was a "complete surprise." A video of the exchange between Trump and Kantz has circulated online, and in the clip, the 78-year-old can be heard telling the mother, "It (the cost) just went down 100 bucks. We'll do that for you from the White House."

"The total bill was $194 and some change, and the inflation on groceries has definitely affected us," Kantz told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday. "I think it was late 2022 or early 2023, I remember coming home from the grocery store and telling him (my husband), 'I don't even know how to budget for groceries anymore because it's like every time I go to the store, they just go up and up and up.'"

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of economy-wide inflation, for all food increased by 0.1% from July 2024 to August 2024, and food prices were 2.1% higher than in August 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture . The food-at-home (grocery store or supermarket food purchases) CPI decreased by 0.1% from July 2024 to August 2024 and was 0.9% higher than in August 2023, the federal department said.

While the $100 bill could help pay for future groceries or expenses, Kantz said, "I'm going to frame it."
