New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 5 game

The Minnesota Vikings have been the surprise of the 2024 NFL season. The only remaining undefeated team in the NFC, Minnesota (4-0) has established itself as a defensive powerhouse with a very potent offense. Quarterback Sam Darnold has revitalized his career with tremendous play bolstered by superstar Justin Jefferson out wide and star running back Aaron Jones in the backfield.
Can the Vikings maintain that level of greatness overseas though? A matchup in London against Aaron Rodgers , the man who tormented them for more than a decade, now on the New York Jets could force this Vikings' party cruise to come to a screeching halt.
Here are our experts' predictions for this matchup in Europe.
Falcons vs. Buccaneers | Vikings vs. Jets | Bears vs. Panthers | Bengals vs. Ravens | Texans vs. Bills | Jaguars vs. Colts | Patriots vs. Dolphins | Commanders vs. Browns | Broncos vs. Raiders | 49ers vs. Cardinals | Rams vs. Packers | Seahawks vs. Giants | Steelers vs. Cowboys | Chiefs vs. Saints
Lorenzo Reyes: Vikings 25, Jets 18
It’s hard to trust the Jets, who are undisciplined and often have debilitating periods when they lack focus and urgency. The penalties are a problem, and Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores may be doing the best job of any assistant in the NFL. I suspect that New York will struggle to attack Minnesota’s defense, and Nathaniel Hackett’s game plans have been uninspiring. I’m backing the more consistent team here, though playing in London may add some unpredictability.
Tyler Dragon: Vikings 21, Jets 20
The first of three straight NFL games in London. Weather played a factor in New York’s dreadful offensive performance last week. Can the Jets jumpstart their offense after scoring a season-low nine points? It’s going to be difficult against an undefeated Vikings team that’s clicking on all cylinders right now. Justin Jefferson’s four touchdown catches are tied for a league high.
Jordan Mendoza: Vikings 17, Jets 13
New York’s defense can only do so much to help its offense. Minnesota is red hot and keeps its perfect record alive across the pond.
