Watch this joyful 6-year-old's excitement when he graduates to first grade

A 6-year-old boy with autism jumped for joy when he realized he'd made it to first grade.

Deuce Hall from Augusta, Georgia, graduated from an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program that teaches those with Autism Spectrum disorder everyday skills and how to interact with others. That's no easy feat, as Deuce’s mom, Mara Thomas, explained.

“The biggest challenge was definitely getting him acclimated to change and adjusting. If you know anything about children and people on the spectrum they don’t adapt to change well and routine and structure is very big for them…So once he got the hang of things it was sort of smooth sailing. Like everyone, he had good and not-so-good days but that’s all a part of adjusting.”

In the end, Deuce came through with flying colors, which means he's ready for first grade. And, having done the work, he was also ready to party.

“There was not a dry eye in the audience,” said Mara Thomas. “The energy that he displayed coming into the room knowing he was being celebrated not fully understanding what exactly he accomplished. It was truly remarkable and I will remember that for the rest of my life.”
