Week 7 of the college football season will feature the Ole Miss Rebels facing off against the LSU Tigers in a Saturday night showdown on Oct. 12.

The Rebels enter "Death Valley" with a 5-1 record and a formidable defense. They currently lead the nation with 63 tackles for loss and are causing havoc for the opposing quarterback. The Rebels are coming off a Week 6 27-3 win over South Carolina , giving head coach Lane Kiffin his 100th career victory.

The Tigers , riding high on a four-game winning streak, are coming off a bye week with their spirits soaring. Their dominant 42-10 victory over South Alabama showcased their strength, with quarterback Garrett Nussmeier delivering a career-high performance. This winning momentum is sure to fuel their confidence as they prepare to face the Rebels.

Here are the current predictions and odds for the SEC showdown between Ole Miss and LSU.

College football 2024: Ole Miss vs. LSU predictions

ESPN : Rebels have a 67% chance to win

According to ESPN's Matchup Predictor, the Ole Miss Rebels have a 67.3% chance to beat the LSU Tigers in Week 7.

    CBS Sports : LSU Tigers

Chip Patterson writes: "This game seems ripe to produce chaos and confusion, with a back-and-forth style that may come down to which team has the ball last. While Ole Miss has been the higher-performing team statistically, LSU should come out of the off week with a strong focus on what's needed to win and maintain an unbeaten start to SEC play. In this series, the home team is 10-2 across the last 12 and covered the spread in nine of the last 10. We're projecting a continuation of that trend here."

College Football News : LSU 31, Ole Miss 30

Pete Fiutak writes: "It should be a great back-and-forth battle that might not be wild, but it should be a good fight for a full 60 minutes. Ole Miss might have the parts and the talent to pull this off, but at home, LSU will survive with its great lines taking over when they absolutely have to."

Winners and Whiners : Ole Miss Rebels

Adam Rauzino writes: "The Ole Miss Rebels are a dominant squad capable of beating anyone. They only have one defeat which came as a major upset but rebounded by demolishing South Carolina last week. The LSU Tigers have won four in a row but only have two wins against a power conference opponent. Furthermore, Mississippi has a prolific offense that is possibly the best in the entire country led by star QB Jaxson Dart. The senior has generated at least 285 passing yards in five of six games and Ole Miss is second in the entire FBS in passing yards. This is good news for Ole Miss up against a weak pass defense. The Tigers are squandering an average of 236 passing yards, pegging them 92nd. Also, the Rebels have a stifling defense. They have conceded 20 or fewer points in each game this season."
