The Packers are in a strange situation. They currently have the fourth-best point differential in the NFL. They also have the fourth-best point differential in their own division and are currently in last place in the NFC North despite a stellar 4-2 record. The Texans ' great play, meanwhile, has them in first place in the AFC South by a wide margin heading into Week 7.
Although there is still a lot of season left to go and the Texans could implode at any point, the situation right now is much more dire for the Packers, who need to keep up with the NFC's elite teams like the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions .
Here are our experts' predictions for the Week 7 showdown.
I can see this one going both ways, and this is one of my favorite games of the week. The Texans, with Joe Mixon leading the rushing attack, are the best version of themselves. The Packers, though, have a top-10 rushing defense. With this being in Lambeau as the weather turns, I think Green Bay has the slightest of edges here, though I think this is a candidate for the under, with both defenses being solid.
Tyler Dragon: Texans 28, Packers 27
The Texans have only defeated Green Bay once in franchise history. Houston put up 41 points against a hapless New England club. Jordan Love and the Packers can light up the scoreboard, too. But DeMeco Ryans has the more complete team.
Richard Morin: Packers 26, Texans 23
This should be a fun matchup. Two young quarterbacks with exciting, young players and established veterans surrounding them. Give me Green Bay on a late field goal.
Jordan Mendoza: Texans 27, Packers 24
Green Bay’s offense looks great with Jordan Love shaking the rust off, but a better defensive unit enters. While the Texans won’t be perfect, they do enough on the road to get a win.
