The defending Super Bowl champions are coming off a bye and rested, which could be what the team needed as it dealt with several inconsistent moments on offense while dealing with injuries. They haven't looked perfect, but the Chiefs have reminded the entire league why they are the team to beat.
It's been a back-and-forth start to the season, but the 49ers looked like their old selves when they thumped the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. San Francisco is trying to avoid the Super Bowl hangover, and no better way to get over that than to beat the team that ended last season on top.
The Chiefs are coming off a bye and the Niners have been uncharacteristically weaker on defense this season. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are typically lethal at finding ways to exploit the soft gaps in opposing defenses. This season, the Chiefs have been content to take underneath routes. I don’t expect that to change. The health of San Francisco running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) also could carry a big impact.
Tyler Dragon: Chiefs 23, 49ers 20
A highly anticipated Super Bowl 54 and 58 rematch. Will the 49ers get revenge? The 49ers got back on track against the Seahawks last week. But Patrick Mahomes is 4-0 in his career versus San Francisco (including two Super Bowl wins). Four of Kansas City’s five wins have been by one score. This marquee matchup should be no different.
Richard Morin: 49ers 27, Chiefs 25
These guys are just due for a huge win, aren't they? Despite the 3-3 record, Brock Purdy looks as the top of his game and leads San Francisco to a statement victory over the unbeaten Chiefs.
Jordan Mendoza: 49ers 23, Chiefs 21
San Francisco hasn't been reliable at all this season, but it should know the magnitude of this game. The home crowd will be keen on making sure it gets revenge for Super Bowl 58, and that's what the 49ers get by handing Kansas City its first loss of the year.
