The New York Jets traded for star wide receiver Davante Adams earlier this week, reuniting him with old Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers . Will Adams play for the Jets this week?

The former Las Vegas Raider has been battling a hamstring injury that kept him out of the last three games with his previous team. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that things were moving in the right direction for Adams to make his Jets debut as soon as this week.

Adams played two seasons (and three games) for Las Vegas after the Packers sent him to the desert in a March 2022 trade. Now, he joins forces with Rodgers, the quarterback who threw to him across six straight Pro Bowl seasons and three straight first-team All-Pro years in Green Bay.

Here's what we know about Adams' immediate future in New York:

Multiple sources have reported that Adams will wear #17 with the Jets, the same number he's worn his entire 11-year career across his two previous teams.

    Davante Adams contract

Adams signed a five-year, $140 million contract extension with the Raiders on the same day he arrived from Green Bay.

On Tuesday, the same day as his trade to New York, he restructured his contract to help the Jets save almost $8.5 million in cap space. The two sides added two void years to his deal and converted $10.45 million of his 2024 salary into signing bonus money.

The Jets have a potential out on his contract after the 2024 season. Adams' deal would only be worth $8.36 million in dead cap if the team cut him. Otherwise, he'll be owed over $70 million in salary alone across 2025 and 2026 – the final two years of his contract.
