    Do I need to register to vote?

    If you aren’t already registered, you’ll need to in order to vote in South Carolina.

    How do I do that?

    You can register either online or by returning this printed paper form by mail, email or fax or in person at your county board of voter registration .

    What's the deadline?

    The deadline is Oct. 4 to register in-person, Oct. 6 to register by fax, email or online and Oct. 7 to postmark a paper application form.

    You can look up your polling precinct here .

    Can I vote by mail?

    You might be eligible to vote absentee if you’ll be absent or unable to vote during early voting or on Election Day because of employment obligations, caring for a sick or disabled person, if you’re a senior citizen, have a disability or if you’ll absent from your county. You can find a complete list of excuses here . You can request an application from your county voter registration office by mail, phone or in-person. The deadline to submit your application for an absentee ballot is Oct. 25.

    What's the latest date I can turn in my ballot?

    You’ll receive your absentee ballot in the mail and your voted ballot must be received by your county voter registration office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

    What if I need help getting to the polling site?

    If you have a disability that will make it difficult for you to get to your polling place, you may qualify for an absentee ballot. You can also vote curbside from your car or outside the polling place.
