Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t been in a rush to extend his three best players, and that lackadaisical approach was always going to come back to bite him.

However, we didn’t know he’d find a way to possibly ruin the negotiations with one of those players in a single quote.

For context, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is currently holding out from Dallas training camp in order to get a massive new deal. Quarterback Dak Prescott and outside linebacker Micah Parsons are also due for major Cowboys contract extensions.

When asked about Lamb’s pending deal on Thursday amid his holdout, Jones was shockingly honest with where it was on his list of priorities.

“I don’t have any urgency to get it done,” Jones said about signing Lamb to a new contract, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. Well!

Since this is 2024 and NFL players have instant access to outrageous quotes like this, Lamb immediately responded on social media with a very telling “lol.”

It’s safe to say that Lamb doesn’t sound too thrilled with Jones’ ridiculous admission, so his holdout probably won’t end any time soon.

No matter what, Jones’ brazen response to signing one of his best players to a new deal will probably backfire somehow.
