Editor’s note : Drew Lock will not require surgery but is expected to miss time with a bone contusion.

The New York Giants debut of quarterback Drew Lock came to a swift end on Thursday night after suffering an injury in the second quarter of a 14-3 victory over the Detroit Lions .

Lock, who had completed just four of his 10 pass attempts for 17 yards and an interception, was forced to exit the game after taking a shot from Lions defensive lineman Nate Lynn with just over 2:00 remaining in the first quarter.

The Giants initially listed Lock as questionable to return with a hip injury, but he never reentered the game after giving way to Tommy DeVito.

General manager Joe Schoen later joined the local FOX booth and revealed that Lock was “fine” and could have returned to the field if the Giants needed.

Those sentiments were shared by head coach Brian Daboll after the victory.

“He’s sore,” Daboll told reporters. “We’ll find out tomorrow but I don’t foresee it being a long time.”

Daboll also offered an update on linebacker Dyontae Johnson, revealing that his injury was also minor and that he, too, could have returned to the field.

“He was going to come back. He was talking about it. I think he had an ankle,” he said.

Overall, it appears the Giants avoided any significant injuries on Thursday night but it remains to be seen if Lock or Johnson participate when the Giants return to the practice field on Sunday morning.

Note : Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott missed the game due to a quad injury.
