You hate to hear when an opponent loses a player for the season, but that’s exactly what Notre Dame and Texas A&M are dealing with ahead of their season opening contest on August 31st.

It wasn’t the Irish this time, as the Aggies lost backup running back Rueben Owens who suffered a lower-body injury during a practice. ESPN is reporting that he will miss the year.

During his freshman campaign, he ran for 385-yards and 3 touchdowns. Owens also gained 109-yards through the air while returning 12 kickoffs for 249-yards.

Notre Dame suffered similar fate earlier this month, as they found out that projected starting offensive tackle Charles Jagusah will be out for the season due to a pectoral injury.

Obviously both teams are having health issues before the season starts, which shows once again why depth is so important at any level of football.
