The Auburn Tigers suffered a disappointing season passing-wise in 2023, which led to a massive overhaul of the department.

Hugh Freeze brought in several talented transfers to fill its need at wide receiver. The new bunch consists of experienced receivers and talented freshmen with unlimited potential. One of those freshmen has been labeled an “impact freshman” by ESPN.

In the “worldwide leader in sports” SEC preview, Chris Low and Mark Schlabach included four newcomers in their “impact freshman” list, with Cam Coleman being Auburn’s representative. Coleman, Auburn’s top signee of its 2024 recruiting class, was the No. 5 overall recruit and the No. 2 wide receiver from the cycle. He put on a great show during his debut at A-Day this spring, hauling four catches for 92 yards and earning MVP honors.

Low and Schlabach expect Coleman to be the main receiver this season due to several impactful traits he possesses.

Auburn needed a massive overhaul in the wide receiver room after an abysmal 2023 performance. Enter Cam Coleman, our one-time No. 1 ranked WR in the 2024 class who ended up No. 5 overall in the ESPN 300. Coleman has a blend of speed, size and range, especially on the deep ball when contested. He shined in the spring game, earning MVP honors, and should become the go-to target in this offense.

Joining Coleman on ESPN’s “impact freshman” list are Alabama WR Ryan Williams,

S Boo Carter, and Texas DE Colin Simmons.
