Jerod Mayo implemented some pretty harsh punishments to dissuade Patriots players from fighting in Eagles joint practices

Ahead of joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo gave very specific parameters for his team to discourage any fighting with the other team.

While talking with reporters, Mayo detailed how the Patriots will be subject to some pretty harsh in-house punishments if any fighting breaks out with the Eagles during their shared practices.

If you’re a starter, you play a whole preseason game; if not, then you won’t play in the preseason game at all.

That is pretty convincing persuasion to refrain from any practice scuffles, as we’re sure some starters want to avoid playing in any preseason game altogether and most all reserve players want as many preseason reps as possible to prove their worth to the organization.

If you’re Mayo and you’re trying to establish a new culture in your first year as a head coach, this is certainly one path to do so.
