As he recently told Big Ten Network, Nebraska running back Gabe Ervin Jr. has high expectations for the 2024 season.

Ervin is looking to put together a strong season during a Nebraska football career that has been marred by injuries. All told he has still been able to produce at a high level. He has tallied 414 yards in three seasons at Nebraska, including 196 yards last year. His best game last year came against Colorado. He had 17 carries for 74 yards in that contest.

His final game was a 14-carry, 67-yard effort against Northern Illinois on September 16. He was able to tally a touchdown before leaving the game with a dislocated shoulder.

Now, he is looking to bounce back and has an attacking mindset heading into the season. As he told the Big Ten Network panel, the whole team is carrying this mindset as well.

“That mentality, it’s going to be a bloodied mentality. Not having an ally is going to be hard and hard-nosed. When you try to make every team that we play, try to make them feel us. We need to start fast, nose-dive in. We’re ready to go. Which is only doing it on the field each and every day. Retaking the mentality that we want in game one and putting it into each and every day we practice.”

A healthy Ervin would do wonders for the Huskers’ running back room. Considering his injury history, putting together a healthy season would also be notable.
