ESPN college football analyst Rece Davis ranked the top 10 college football teams ahead of the 2024 season. Davis ranked the Georgia Bulldogs as his No. 1 team.

Davis is a voter in the AP poll. His top 25 ballot contains a few surprises.

Davis is very high on the Kansas Jayhawks. In fact, Davis ranks the Jayhawks as his No. 14 team nationally and as his top team in the Big 12 (just ahead of No. 15 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Utah).

The other surprise on Davis’ ballot is his ranking of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Davis ranks Alabama seventh, which is lower than most. Alabama lost head coach Nick Saban to retirement this offseason and quite a few top tier players to the transfer portal, but the Crimson Tide still have one of the most talented rosters in college football.

Interestingly, he ranks the defending ACC champion Florida State Seminoles ahead of the Crimson Tide. No other Associated Press voter ranks Florida State higher than Davis.

Here are Rece Davis’ full top 10 college football rankings for the 2024 preseason.

    1. Georgia
    2. Ohio State
    3. Texas
    4. Oregon
    5. Ole Miss
    6. Florida State
    7. Alabama
    8. Notre Dame
    9. Missouri
    10. Penn State
