The Oregon Ducks got an injury scare during fall camp to one of their newcomers, with right guard Matthew Bedford getting his right knee dinged up.

Bedford, a veteran transfer from Indiana, has been seen around the practice facility with a brace on his knee, using one crutch as a support. The fifth-year senior is projected to be the Ducks’ starting right guard this season.

While Bedford is being held out of practice for the time being as he recovers, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning confirmed on Saturday after the team’s second fall scrimmage that they expect the guard to return this season.

A person with knowledge of the situation tells me that Bedford could potentially be back in time for conference play to begin, which takes place in Week 5 on September 28 against the UCLA Bruins.

In the meantime, we can expect Oregon to fill that hole on the offensive line with a talented player. Be it Nishad Strother, Iapani Laloulu, or somebody else, the Ducks have enough talent up front to make things work while Bedford gets healthy.
