Highlights, takeaways of Georgia's second scrimmage of fall camp

The Georgia Bulldogs are less than two weeks away from the season opener against the Clemson Tigers.

In Georgia’s latest scrimmage, center Jared Wilson saw some action, which is an excellent sign for the Bulldogs. Georgia does not have much experienced depth at center and Wilson has been missing practice with Achilles tendinitis.

True freshman pass rusher Quintavius Johnson continues to draw buzz throughout fall camp. Johnson was not an elite recruit, but he looks better than his recruiting ranking thus far.

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne and defensive lineman Warren Brinson both sat out. Brinson has been nursing an injury. It is unclear why Etienne sat out, but he faces a potential suspension in Week 1. Another possible explanation: Competition was a key factor in Georgia’s scrimmage, and Etienne appears to have the No. 1 running back role locked up.

In the highlights below, senior receiver Dominic Lovett makes a nice catch, true freshman running back Nate Frazier continues to see significant action and true freshman running back Dwight Phillips Jr. scores a touchdown.

The second scrimmage also provided a look into where the depth chart stands.

Sophomore cornerback Joenel Aguero appears to have won the starting role at star. Georgia’s No. 2 cornerback competition (opposite Daylen Everette) will likely see Julian Humphrey, Daniel Harris and even Ellis Robinson play snaps. However, Humphrey appears to be in the lead to start. Safety Dan Jackson continues to work with the starters, but true freshman KJ Bolden will likely see significant snaps this fall.
