Travis Hunter takes top spot in ranking of college football’s best players

Most of the college football world knows how great Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter is, and we can add CBS Sports to the list of national outlets handing out accolades to the two-way superstar.

Blake Brockermeyer released his 1-151 ranking of the best players in college football entering the 2024 season, and Hunter was No. 1 on his list. The former five-star athlete and top-ranked prospect in the country is entering his second season with the Buffs after positing 721 receiving yards, five touchdowns, 30 tackles and three interceptions last year.

Because of that production, he landed at No.1 on CBS Sports’ list . Here’s some of what Brockermeyer wrote on Hunter:

A silky-smooth corner, Hunter is excellent in press coverage. In a Cover 2 scheme, he has the ability to undercut routes and make plays on the ball. Hunter has excellent hands and will sacrifice his body to make plays. He has fluid hips that allow him to trail his primary receiver, adjust to a ball thrown in his area and get involved for a PBU.
