Packers highlight: Arron Mosby produces strip-sack, interception on back-to-back drives

Green Bay Packers defensive end Arron Mosby set up a touchdown for a teammate and then ended the next drive with turnover-causing plays in the first half of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens.

Creating multiple takeaways is one way to make a strong final statement for a player on the roster bubble.

On the first turnover, Mosby entered the backfield unblocked and stripped Ravens quarterback Devin Leary. The resulting fumble was picked up by safety Anthony Johnson Jr. and returned 24 yards for a touchdown, giving the Packers a 20-7 advantage.

    Here’s the scoop-and-score touchdown:

Mosby got to the ball before Leary, who was under immediate pressure, could get the attempt off, and then he helped escort Johnson into the end zone for the touchdown.

A drive later, Mosby dropped into coverage and was in perfect position to intercept Leary’s hazardous throw underneath, ending a Ravens drive that had advanced to Green Bay’s 34-yard line.

    Here’s the pick:

Sean Clifford was unable to convert the takeaway into points during the two-minute drill, and the Packers entered halftime with a 20-7 lead.

Mosby is a second-year defensive end who went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2022. The Packers claimed him off waivers from the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 3, 2023, and he spent the entire 2023 regular season on the Packers practice squad. A consistent playmaker this summer, Mosby is competing with Brenton Cox Jr. to be the team’s No. 5 defensive end. It’s possible he could make the 53-man roster or remain in Green Bay on the practice squad.
