Where do Colts rank in waiver wire priority with roster cuts taking place?

The Colts, along with every other NFL team, have to have their initial 53-man rosters set by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday afternoon. And with that, a lot of players are going to be placed on waivers.

For players who are released with four or more accrued years of NFL experience, they will immediately become free agents and can sign with whichever team they choose. On the flip side, for players with three or fewer years of accrued NFL experience, they will first have to go on waivers.

Once a player hits waivers, teams are able to put in a claim on that player, and if multiple teams put in a claim, the team with the higher priority is awarded that player.

Waiver wire priority is still determined by each team’s 2023 record–or the 2024 draft order without any trades included. So the Colts, just like in this past April’s draft, at No. 15 on the priority list.

If the Colts and any team ranked 1-14 put in a claim on the same player, the Colts will unfortunately miss out on that player. However, if the Colts are the only team to put in a claim or the other teams that do rank 16-32 in waiver priority, the Colts will be awarded that player.

All players claimed on waivers following roster cutdowns must be added to the 53-man roster. So if the Colts do make a waiver addition, a corresponding roster cut will have to be made.

Below is the full waiver wire rankings:
