The Colts are returning to Baltimore, but it’s not the kind who left for Indianapolis in 1984. To be more accurate, the Colts are coming to Baltimore, with Ravens franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson helping lead the way.

As was announced on Monday, Jackson will be a lead owner within the ownership group that’s bringing the Maryland Colts to the National Thoroughbred League.

Their season will kick off this Sunday, September 1, in the NTL Nashville Cup.

“I am truly excited to be a part of this great opportunity,” reads a statement attributed to Jackson in a press release.

“The core values of excellence, teamwork, community, and leadership will help push the program beyond our expectations. I believe through our efforts and determination more opportunities will be opened for the youth of the state of Maryland.

We look forward to seeing the success of such a grand vision become a reality.”

Jackson is a well-known fan of horse racing, as he was spotted attending The Preakness this past May. Once their playing days are over, it is very common for superstar athletes to get into team ownership.

It is very forward-thinking of Lamar to start moving into this arena already at the age of 27.
