Now that the preseason is officially in the books, the Carolina Panthers have another task to tackle—the big cutdown.
Between now and 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the Panthers and the rest of the NFL’s 31 teams must get down to their initial 53-player rosters.
Here is our final projection for Carolina’s initial 53:

In: Bryce Young, Andy Dalton
Out: Jack Plummer
Plummer impressed in the summer finale, completing 21 of his 29 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. But that still won’t be enough to devote a third spot on the roster to a quarterback.

Initial 53-man roster projection for the 2024 Panthers

One of the more shocking moves the Raiders made today was to cut Kristian Wilkerson. They also cut Jalen Guyton, making for two veteran receivers let go in favor of young hopefuls.
Making the Raiders initial 53-man roster instead are undrafted rookie Ramel Keyton and former CFL return specialist Tyreik McAllister.
Both players flashed in camp. With McAllister blowing everyone away in the final preseason game with an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown and a savvy touchdown catch.
Keyton had a few nice plays late in that game, showing the instincts and physical gifts he had displayed in the team’s scrimmage in camp.
In the end, the Raiders saw the two youngsters as too valuable to cut. Or at very least too risky to put on waivers in the hopes of getting either of them back on the practice squad.
Keyton showed talent that can be developed while McAllister showed return abilities that can be utilized right away.
There is still the question of what the Raiders do on the waiver wire. But for now, these two have broken through onto the roster, beating out two established veterans to do it.

Veteran tight end Donald Parham Jr. will not be on the Chargers’ 53-man roster for Week 1.
Parham Jr,’s release was announced Tuesday. He was one of two players released by the Chargers – the other being linebacker Shaq Quarterman – while 31 other players were waived.
Parham Jr,, an undrafted tight end in the class of 2019, came to the Chargers from the XFL’s Dallas Renegades in 2020. In four seasons Parham Jr. appeared in 47 games for the Chargers, and had 67 receptions for 764 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Statistically, Parham Jr. was coming off his best season for Los Angeles, as he posted 285 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions in 2023.

Noah Brown’s time in Houston has come to an end.
According to reports, the Texans have released the veteran receiver as they look to trim down the roster from 90 players to 53. Brown, who signed a one-year deal this offseason, was initially expected to be the No. 4 receiver after a breakout 2023 season.

When the Texans were undermanned at wideout, Noah Brown had back to back 150+ yard games in which both were wins. 
For a team that got into the playoffs by a game you could make an argument, Houston doesn’t make the postseason without him.
