Oregon OL Matthew Bedford returns to practice for Ducks

The Oregon Ducks saw an interesting development at practice on Wednesday morning ahead of their Week 1 game against the Idaho Vandals.

Veteran right guard Matthew Bedford returned to practice with his teammmates, wearing pads and cleats. The team was not in full pads for the day’s activities.

Bedford has been absent from practices for the past two weeks since August 14th after sustaining a right knee injury. The transfer from Indiana was projected to be the starting RG for Oregon this year, but the Ducks have had to reshuffle things in his absence over the past couple of weeks.

During the limited period of practice that we were able to watch on Wednesday, Bedford went through stretches with the team, but did not participate in individual blocking drills afterward. Media members were able to watch the first 15-20 minutes of practice, as usual.

While Bedford’s return to practice does not directly mean that he will play in Saturday’s game again Idaho, it is a good sign that he may be ready to return to the field sooner than expected.

We will continue to monitor the situation and see how things progress going into Saturday’s game. Head Coach Dan Lanning will meet with media members later on Wednesday.
