North Dakota State to be without multiple impact players against Buffs

As the Colorado Buffaloes are set to host the North Dakota State Bison in Week 1 of the college football season, the Bison’s injuries are beginning to mount. NDSU will be without the services of All-American safety Cole Wisniewski, all-conference fullback/long snapper Hunter Brozio and could be without starting running back Barika Kpeenu.

Wisniewski played linebacker for three seasons at NDSU before moving to safety in 2023. The change was significant as he was voted a consensus first-team Football Championship Subdivision All-American while leading the Bison with 92 total tackles and eight interceptions.

After playing in 45 career games across four seasons, Brozio has decided to medically retire due to a foot injury. In 2022, Brozio was voted All-Missouri Valley Football Conference second-team as a long snapper. His pinpoint accuracy allowed NDSU to convert all 67 extra points and 10-of-13 field goals.

The Bison’s projected starter at running back, Kpeenu is questionable as he sustained a knee injury during fall camp. Kpeenu ran for 501 yards and four touchdowns last season.
