One of the biggest matchups of Week 1 of the 2024 college football season will undoubtedly be the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs facing the No. 14 Clemson Tigers in Atlanta. While these two programs have both won multiple national titles within the last decade, this matchup is actually quite lopsided.

Sure, we can point to recent seasons and explain why this is a battle between two teams that have had a plethora of success. However, when looking at the series history between the Bulldogs and the Tigers, it’s not really all that close.

Overall, there have been 65 meetings between these two. Of those, there have been four draws, Clemson has earned 18 wins and Georgia holds claim to an impressive 43 victories.

Most recently, they squared off in Week 1 of the 2021 season, which the Bulldogs won in a low-scoring affair, 10-3. The last time Clemson took down the Dawgs was in 2013, when the Tigers earned a narrow victory at home with a final score of 35-38.

Considering how both teams performed in 2023 and what changes were made to the roster, it’s easy to see how and why fans and experts like Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs in this one.

Though Clemson has a steep climb uphill to even up the all-time series, they will try their best to earn win No. 19 against Georgia on Saturday, Aug. 31 at noon ET in Atlanta.
