Inside the Irish: Fans 'right' to call Notre Dame overrated

Every Notre Dame football fan is coping with their team’s stunning loss to Northern Illinois in their own way. While some choose to deal with it in silence, others are taking to social media.

Among those venting is Inside the Irish, one the more prominent Irish fans on social media. One post touches on a subject many were tackling before the season started: Whether the Irish are overrated.

As was pointed out many times, the differences in the Irish’s place in the preseason and final season polls typically weren’t that great. But that means nothing to Inside the Irish as he’s made this concession:

Whether the Irish indeed are overrated will continue to be a debate. It doesn’t change that Inside the Irish has every right to feel this way. The Irish lost on their home field to a team not even in the same universe as them. Now, we’re left to question everything about them.

This loss proved that Notre Dame really needs to evaluate its approach to building a football program. Otherwise, losses like this one will keep happening, and the fans will have no way to counter the “overrated” argument.
