A Miami-Dade Police Department officer who was involved in the detainment of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been placed on administrative leave, MDPD announced Sunday.

“Following the incident involving Tyreek Hill, I have inititated an Internal Affairs investigation to ensure a thorough review of the matter,” MDPD director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement . “One of the officers involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties while the investigation is conducted.

“I’m committed to transparency and accountability to the community with any situation involving my officers.”

Hill, 30, was seen in handcuffs Sunday morning on his way into Hard Rock Stadium after what the Dolphins described in a statement as a “traffic incident.”

The receiver’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was on the scene and told ESPN’s Jeff Darlington that he was “deeply concerned” by the escalation of the incident by officers.

“Apparently, he got a ticket for a moving violation entering the stadium,” Rosenhaus told Darlington. “How things escalated into the situation they were in — in handcuffs and being held on the ground with police — is mind-boggling to me. I’m deeply concerned by that, very troubled. We will be looking into it. We will be investigating this.”

Hill still played Sunday and led the Dolphins with seven receptions for 130 yards. After an 80-yard touchdown, the Miami receiver pretended to be in handcuffs and waited for his teammate, Jaylen Waddle, to release him.
