Maryland’s goal was to force Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles to beat them with his arm. And he did.

Following the Spartans’ comeback upset win over Maryland on Saturday, Terps head coach Mike Locksley gave us some insight to their gameplan to handle the Spartans’ offense. Locksley said the goal was to force Chiles to beat them with his arm, and as we saw in the end, “he did.”

Chiles finished the game throwing for more than 360 yards and three touchdowns. His best throw of the day was late in the fourth quarter when he connected on a deep ball to wide receiver Nick Marsh for a 77-yard touchdown.

Michigan State returns to the field next week in a home non-conference game against Prairie View A&M. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
