New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones did not play well in the team’s opening week loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Jones showed many of the shortcomings that critics have pounded him over in a day where he took 12 QB hits (five for sacks), threw another pick-6, and killed a possible scoring drive by tossing a pick in the end zone.

His final numbers were not pretty: 22-of-42 passing for 186 yards, no touchdowns, and two picks for a QB rating 44.3.

Despite falling on his face in his first start since early November of last season, head coach Brian Daboll says he’s sticking with Jones.

Jones’ backup is Drew Lock and behind him is Tommy DeVito. For those who think that either one of them would fare better, they should rethink their stance. There will be no change in practice reps.

The Giants will play at Washington in Week 2. Jones has a solid record against the Commanders in his career. He is 5-1-1 in seven starts with 10 touchdowns versus three interceptions for a 98.0 QB rating.
