The Cleveland Browns are signing back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kadarius Toney to their practice squad.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz was the first to break news of the signing after the wide receiver came in for a workout last week. Toney is expected to remain on the practice squad for at least the first couple of weeks to learn the playbook and get himself ready for live action. Do not be surprised if he is on Clevelands’ active roster before the end of September.

The former first-round pick last played for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 and managed to collect 27 catches and 169 yards in 13 games. While Toney is in a slump in his career, the Browns see value in bringing in the 25-year-old wideout and giving him opportunities to earn playing time.

Though we do not know the details of his contract yet, it is reportedly fully guaranteed. After David Bell was released from the team’s active roster last week and replaced by Jaelon Darden, it is evident that the Browns are aiming to upgrade their lower-tiered pass catchers.

We’ll see if Kadarius Toney can make an impression on the practice squad and earn his way to the active roster soon.
