Two Tennessee football players earned SEC weekly awards from the league office after Week 2.

Vols’ redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava was named SEC Freshman of the Week, while senior center Cooper Mays was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Iamaleava was named SEC Freshman of the Week for a second consecutive week, while Mays was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for the second time in his career after Tennessee defeated North Carolina State, 51-10, Saturday in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In his third career start, Iamaleava accounted for 276 yards of total offense. He completed 16-of-23 passing attempts for 211 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Iamaleava also totaled 65 rushing yards and one touchdown on eight rushing attempts.

Mays, a preseason All-America and First-team All-SEC standout, helped the Vols gain 460 yards. He did not allow a sack or commit a penalty against the Wolfpack.

Mays has not allowed a sack in 16 consecutive games.
