Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is set to undergo further testing Friday after suffering a concussion in the team’s 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

After the loss, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that the quarterback was “in good spirits” and greeted his teammates in the locker room following the game. As for what’s next, McDaniel said that’ll be determined Friday after further testing for Tagovailoa.

“Right now, it’s more about getting a proper, procedural evaluation tomorrow and taking it one day at a time,” McDaniel said. “The furthest thing from my mind is ‘What is the timeline?’ We just need to evaluate, and I’m just worried about my teammate, like the rest of the guys are. But we’ll get more information tomorrow and then take it day by day from there.”

Tagovailoa, 26, suffered the injury when he ran on a fourth down and got enough yardage for a first down before colliding headfirst into Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

The Dolphins quarterback eventually left the field under his own power and left for the locker room. Just a few minutes after exiting, the Dolphins announced that Tagovailoa was diagnosed with a concussion and wouldn’t return.

Tagovailoa suffered multiple concussions during the 2022 season, forcing him to miss a few games and causing him to briefly consider retirement.

Tagovailoa finished the 31-10 loss with 17 completions on 25 attempts for 145 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
