Bryce Young's aimless scramble was the latest lowlight to make him look like an NFL bust

Less than two weeks into the 2024 NFL regular season, and it might already be time to call it. I relented on fully embracing the idea to this point, but Bryce Young really might be a massive NFL Draft bust.

Be it for his own limited individual skill set, the Carolina Panthers’ terrible supporting cast, or both, it doesn’t matter. We’re getting to the point where there’s nothing positive to point to for the second-year quarterback in the NFL’s worst situation.

    And it’s pretty alarming.

One improvised play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers was a perfect microcosm of how lost Young looks in professional football. On a broken play, Young tried to scramble left and appeared to signal to a receiver to keep running. Before he had a chance to release the pass, Young was leveled for a sack just about a second later, showing a stunning lack of awareness in space:

There’s always time to turn it around. I suppose there’s always a chance Young starts building positive momentum. But even if he starts showing more confidence and poise, sequences like this make it abundantly clear that the awful Panthers have rubbed off on Young a bit too much.

    It really might be over.

I really liked him at Alabama and was excited to hear that the Panthers were able to draft him. I have a lot of respect for the guy, but it's time to sit him down. Maybe he can learn more by riding the pine and watching other QB's that have been around. J/S
