New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo summed up the feelings of players and fans alike, following the team’s 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The Patriots battled with the Seahawks throughout the game and even led at multiple points. However, quarterback Geno Smith and the Seahawks’ offense battled back with a game-winning drive in overtime to pick up the victory.

It was a frustrating day for Mayo, who suffered the first loss of his head coaching career. He summed up his feelings succinctly following the game.

“That one hurts,” said Mayo, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots will have a chance to forget about Sunday’s game quickly, as they take on the New York Jets on Thursday night. The Jets are coming off their first win of the season over the Tennessee Titans, and they’ll serve as the Patriots’ first AFC East opponent of the year.

As a Seahawks fan, I gotta say....the Patriots looked WAY better than I had anticipated. I definitely wouldn't count them out.
