Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chamarri Conner stepped into significant playing time on Sunday. He made momentum-changing plays in the second half that helped in the comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Conner spoke to the media following Sunday’s win, recapping his best performance thus far as a professional.

“Man, that was amazing. That was an amazing feeling,” said Conner, referring to his scoop-and-score touchdown after Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s fumble and being embraced by the over 75,000 fans in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium.

The play briefly gave the Chiefs the lead, but Conner wasn’t done impacting the game. The former Virginia Tech standout sacked Burrow, stalling Cincinnati’s fourth-quarter drive.

“Coach Spags (Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) called a great play. He dialed it up, and it was wide open for me.” I couldn’t miss the layup, so I tried to hit it as fast as I could,” said Conner, who finished the game with six tackles, four solo, one sack, and a tackle for loss.

The injury to Justin Reid’s hand forced him to the sidelines several times in the game, opening up more minutes for Conner and others in the secondary. The depth in the secondary is showing its strength with performances like Sunday’s against the Bengals.
