Now that Arch Manning has officially been named the starting QB for the Texas Longhorns against UL Monroe Saturday night, the anticipation is building.

ESPN’s Pat McAfee can’t wait. He says the redshirt freshman is about to have a big game.

“I believe this is not that big of a surprise. But boy, you put it out there and say, ‘Sark confirms that Arch Manning is the starter this weekend against Louisiana Monroe. This is after a five touchdown debut for the Texas Longhorns.” — Pat McAfee

McAfee is on record this week as saying that the chatter about Manning replacing Ewers permanently isn’t going to go away.

“That is going to be a loud talking point whether they like it or not. That is something Sark is going to have to navigate obviously.” — Pat McAfee

Not that we know Arch will start at least one game in place of the injured Ewers, McAfee thinks Manning is going to light it up.

“Now that he’s getting his opportunity, he’s about to go berzerk. I think that’s what we all know. He’s seemingly remained a normal human and he’s the fasted Manning to ever touch a football field. Even faster than (grandfather) Archie, who was known for movin’ and groovin’.” — Pat McAfee

The former Lions punter says the start against ULM is going to be a huge deal.

“The college football world is going to be loud about this entire thing. I’m excited to see how Sark and the Texas Longhorns handle it all.” — Pat McAfee
