ESPN college football analyst and commentator Kirk Herbstreit was impressed with what he saw in the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 41-34 win over the Georgia Bulldogs. Both teams had overwhelming, dominant halves of football.

Alabama outscored Georgia 30-7 in the first half. The game looked like a blowout, but Georgia and quarterback Carson Beck mounted a second half comeback that came up just a hair short.

“That was one hell of a football game with Alabama and Georgia,” said Herbstreit. “Just want to congratulate both those teams, obviously Alabama ends up winning.”

Alabama won after Georgia quarterback Carson Beck threw his third interception of the game in the end zone. Turnovers haunted Georgia in their first regular season loss since 2020.

“Jalen Milroe… I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a game like that. First half, running and throwing,” added Herbstreit. “Doing so many great things. Looks like Georgia can never stop them and then Kirby (Smart) and Glenn Schumann some great adjustments at halftime. Their defense just kept fighting to give them a fight in the second half.”

Georgia did a good job of adapting to a terrible situation. Carson Beck posted huge numbers in the second half despite facing numerous obvious passing situations. Georgia converted on five fourth downs as Carson Beck finished the game with 439 passing yards with four touchdowns.

“Congrats to both teams… Got a feeling these two teams have a good chance of seeing each other whether it is in Atlanta where it is the playoff,” said Herbstreit. “I just want to see more of it. These two teams never let us down. Thank you to both the teams, the coaches, the fans… that’s what makes college football the best!”

The Georgia-Alabama game was very interesting for neutral viewers provided they did not dip out at halftime. In the end Alabama won, but Georgia showed the heart of a champion in the second half.
