Over the last four years, Jake Majors has been an anchor in the Texas Longhorns‘ offensive line, making 45 starts. While he has been a model of consistency, he has emerged as a veteran leader and was recognized for his impact on Thursday. The Prosper, Texas native was selected as a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year.

The award, presented by Albertsons and Tom Thumb, focuses primarily on a player’s leadership, both on and off the field. When Majors is not playing on Saturdays, he has given back through organizations such as the Silver Spurs, which empowers students to become agents of positive change in their communities. The group is also responsible for taking caring of BEVO, Texas’ official mascot.

With Majors at the center of the offensive line, the Longhorns’ offense has been one of the best in college football. They currently rank 11th in scoring and 12th in total offense. Texas also ranks 14th in third-down conversations. While Majors may not show up on the stat sheet, he has been a critical piece.

Although Majors main focus is on winning a national championship, his latest recognition goes beyond the numbers. The last Longhorns player to win the award was Sam Ehlinger in 2021. Majors will have to wait a few months to know the final results. The winner will be announced in an award ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 12.
