Bucs' Baker Mayfield knows what Sunday's game means to Tampa Bay residents

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and countless others were forced to evacuate the area in the path of Hurricane Milton. Residents went north or south to avoid the storm, but for the Bucs, leaving meant they had to continue business as usual.

They went a bit west when they went to New Orleans ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Saints.

The relocation has made the Bucs realize what this game on Sunday is going to mean to so many, especially the fans. Quarterback Baker Mayfield hasn’t lost sight of the impact this game could have on giving residents something to escape the harsh realities left by Hurricane Milton.

“Once we’re out there, it’s realizing this could be a sort of Sunday to give the people of Florida, especially around our area, some hope and something to look forward to watching.”

Milton did not directly impact Tampa Bay as they expected, nor was the surge as high as expected. Despite those lucky instances, there is still a lot of damage from two hurricanes that hit the area in two weeks.

While the Bucs will undoubtedly be playing with a lot on their minds on Sunday, they will at least give the fans three hours of mental freedom.
